Bruksgården

The Bruksgården book was a project initiated by Jenny Lindén Urnes as an archive for the architectural conversion of the head office for Lindéngruppen in Höganäs, Sweden. It is a photographic narrative documenting the six-year renovation process lead by the renowned architect Petra Gipp. The book is intended to reflect the character of the building with it’s respect for heritage whilst maintaining a contemporary approach relevant for future generations.

The book required curating an edit from thousands of images taken throughout the renovation process from 2010 through 2017. This major renovation required maintaining respect for the important heritage of the building, the context of it within the surrounding area which is classified as having national interest whilst creating an inspiring contemporary space. The other important aspect of the project was to present the art collection carefully set into the spaces, curated by Mårten Castenfors. It is the combination of these aspects, respectfully integrating the new with the old that reflect the company values.

This 200 page photographic essay documents the project in a loose chronological order where image and text sections are separated through the use of different paper material. The book was presented in a raw black case referencing the key building element, the Danish brick prevalent in the architecture.

The cover is bound with German book-binding linen, Bamberger Kaliko, Lino, 0405/010 Auster and hot foil stamped in black to reflect the materials of the building. The pages are of Colorplan Pale Grey and Munken Lynx Rough. The book was self-published and launched at the opening party of Bruksgården in June 2017.
