Making a splash in the printing industry

Print Run is a small but hungry digital print company as well as an agent for all types of printing services, based in northern Stockholm. They are not an ordinary printer, and asked The Studio for an identity that would reflect that.

The project included developing a new name and a graphic identity that would express the craftmanship, knowledge and quick footed attitude of the owners.

The identity is unorthodox and seemingly abstract, but solidly based in printing tradition: the classic illustration of the A format system. It is used in different modularities as a grid for different design applications.

To further make Print Run stand out in this rather homogenous and traditional industry, a slightly unexpected colour combination of reflex blue and apricot was developed.

Print Run

Print Run is a small but hungry digital print company as well as an agent for all types of printing services, based in northern Stockholm. The project included developing a new name and a graphic identity that would express the craftmanship, knowledge and quick footed attitude of the owners.

The name that The Studio developed was Print Run, a wordplay reflecting the owners can-do approach to business while having a clear link to printing. The identity is unorthodox and seemingly abstract, but solidly based in printing tradition: the classic illustration of the A format system. It is used in different modularities as a grid for different design applications. The “Run” within the name playfully pops up in random positions and is animated in the digital form. The website was built around the same A system, an unorthodox but almost surprisingly functional solution.

To further make Print Run stand out in this rather homogenous and traditional industry, a slightly unexpected color combination of reflex blue and apricot was developed. For the launch, hundreds of invitation cards were hand painted and a book was published, show-casing different papers, printing techniques and finishes, as well as section of images where the artist Johan Pettersson was allowed to associate freely around color.
